Pact Weapons
Pact technology is, much to the frustration of the armaments specialist, much more difficult to categorize than the regulation weaponry of the GuardCorps.
Pact combat cells simply do not draw on common stockpiles of centrally manufactured munitions in the same way as GuardCorps enforcement units. At best, it is possible to identify common styles of weaponry constructed and promulgated by particular communities of the the People’s Galactic and then track their wider spread of usage and adoption by Pact armorers across the Heliospheres.
Even this has its frustrations. Ever-present arms smuggling and mercenary exchanges can see new Pact weapon designs pop up in locales far removed from their originators and developed further entirely without any apparent input from them. A sort of commonly held yet locally mandated ‘industry standard’ appears to be in force for arms manufacture within People’s Galactic, a stark contrast to the centrally regulated, heavily patented weapons of the GuardCorps.
As a final comment of this impromptu introduction to Pact armaments, I wish to point out a commonly held misapprehension raised to the level of fallacy by less careful observers. To wit, that the Pact exclusively employs weapons adapted from mining and industrial tools. In my experience, this can be said to be partially true of a select few armaments, yet speciously so in some cases.
It is as if we were comparing a communications array to an interceptor station because they both use directed energy in operation; technically, yes, they are similar, but in actuality, one operates at energy levels orders of magnitude above the other. Most Pact weapons are designed and built exclusively for combat.
One of the most respected analysts, known both for highly detailed breakdowns and post-engagement evaluation as well as more informal “pop” texts is “Drew Chambert” (a nom de plume). Little is known about this writer except it is evident they are or have been a zeo designer, possibly even a pilot at some point, and have some quite deep connections into both Pact and GuardCorps operations. Their writings and audiocasts are available across all one hundred heliospheres to a greater or lesser extent.
